I hope everyone was able to have a positive and memorable Thanksgiving Holiday. The Smith Center is proud to announce that our FIRST Annual Turkey Giveaway was a HUGE success! I know it’s not nice to “brag” but I have to say the amount of support that we received in such a short amount of time was incredible and in some ways emotional and in every way VERY appreciative! Since this was our first giveaway I personally went out to deliver the turkeys to the families that I could, reached out to them and encountered their stories. What started out as a very small idealistic project turned into a great adventure picking up and dropping off turkeys.
With the support of donors we were able to supply turkeys to the following:
- 8 Families ( surprised one parent with 1 Jewel Gift Card)
- 1 – Men’s Shelter (Special Thanks to Beautiful People Organization)
- 1- Feed the Needy Program (Special Thanks to Generation HOPE Youth)
- 1- Church – St. Ailbe Catholic Church
This experience was an amazing experience and the Smith Center for Community Advancement is very thankful for all of the support that we received and the families were definitely thankful and grateful!
