Program Specifics
The Smith Center for Community Advancement will focus on two components of service that will be broken down specifically to address the key core concerns of the client. In addition it should also be noted that each family will receive a comprehensive assessment which will consist of clinical based testing and interviews upon referral to the program. Following the assessment results, the clients and the case managers will create an action plan for success which will be implemented via the two treatment components.
Component One
Village Vibe Sessions – An 8-10 Week Workshop that will be interactive and peer driven and will focus on providing therapeutic self-correction, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills for the purpose of creating and strengthening a successful and stable family dynamic.
Youth Session
Improving Communication and Coping Skills (peers and adults)

Component Two
Words into Action Initiative (WAI) – In an effort to take a step beyond traditional examples of community service, SCCA will focus on creating and supporting Village Improvement Programs that will feature our clients and agency as a whole connecting with a variety of community organizations as well as taking on many pressing issues that are present in the community. These projects will be designed to initiate and encourage overall family involvement and investment in the community, which in turn will strengthen the community and decrease negative outlets such as drugs and gang involvement.

The Amina Project – A mentoring program for girls 12 – 21
The New Heroes Mentoring Initiative – A mentoring program for boys 12-21
The Familia Program – A video workshop focusing on parent support and advocacy
