It has been at least two years since the last time we showcased a Father’s Day Tribute. It is a project that is actually near and dear to the CEO of the Smith Center for Community Advancement, Andre C Russell. “I always wanted to highlight all of the men in my life and travels who are GREAT Fathers. Now that I have a community based platform, I wanted to help push that positive portrayal of Dads out there and why not start with my friends and family?”

We decided to use “When We Were Kings” by Brian McKnight and Diana King because those lyrics just resonate strength, love and the richness of our history. We are STILL Kings!

This project is truly a labor of love and we hope that you enjoyed it and if you see someone you know let us know! And also if you would like your Father, male mentor or loved one past and present to be showcased next year. Definitely send in a clear/good quality pic of them (you can be in it too) and just a line if they are still here with us. We will be sure to include it in the project for next year. You can respond below and a Team Member will get back to you as soon as possible.

We would like to close out with a quote from respected mentor and proud Father, Lester McCarroll, Jr new book “Father to Son, Volume 1: A collection of wisdom about love and life… for the young men in the village”:

Father to Son:

There is no shame in serving people; giving of yourself and sharing the gifts with which you’ve been blessed.

Serving your community to improve lives, serving your customers to earn a living, serving friends and associates to help improve their quality of life, and serving a woman to make her dreams come true – whatever they may be.

A spirit of humility is at the center of a mindset that senses needs and offers support for causes outside of yourself; and it makes you a better man…

And being a better man should forever be your intent.

There is nothing more disappointing than a man who thinks he’s arrived, and feels he’s above serving…

Thank you for watching. Please Share and Happy Father’s Day!
