Earlier last month I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. This was both an emotional and physical shock to the system as everything that I knew as a lifestyle will be forever altered.. even if it was for the better the experience will be something that I will never forget and I am forever grateful to my friends and family who supported me through my recovery and my healthier lifestyle choices.
Because of this, I decided to have our first community service event for the year a Health Fair for the community in the hopes of raising awareness and the importance to have screenings, be active, and to take care of one another. This health fair will focus on:
• Nutrition in the home and while traveling
• FREE HIV/AIDS Testing
• Mental Health Awareness
• Fitness Demonstrations
• Healthcare Resources
• Insurance
We will feature vendors, health-testing kiosks and keynote speakers, as well as others who will share special testimonies. The entire event will be done in a very comfortable manner to encourage and show families that we are all continually on a journey of health and they are truly not alone.
