It seems like yesterday (I’ve always wanted to say that!) that only a year ago our very first Community Action Event the Smith Center Memorial Walk happened and thus began our journey into the world of Community Action and Activism. Now on Sunday, August 24, 2014 we are preparing to do it all over again… with an upgrade!
Start – Chicago Vocational Career Academy 2100 E. 87th Street, Chicago, IL 2:00 PM
Destination – Bowen High School 2710 E. 89th Street, Chicago, IL
Return – Chicago Vocational Career Academy
Attire – We would like everyone to wear a WHITE T SHIRT with the name(s) of youth and loved ones that have lost their lives to Gang Violence. It is them that we are honoring during this walk because they do not have an opportunity to further their education and pursue their dreams; comfortable shoes.
Now partnered with a few more Community Minded Organizations and Individuals, the Smith Center Memorial Walk 2 will not only commemorate those who have tragically lost their lives to the senseless violence, but to also provide services and resources to the community in an effort to give back, support and empower others to keep moving and progressing amidst the violence and become more active in their own communities.

We are VERY excited to be doing this project once again! The first time was a tremendous success for ourselves and those that were involved. We look forward to doing it again!
